LifeTree Leader appointed Chamber President - 8th June 2005
Joe Lafferty was appointed president of Dundee and Tayside Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the Chamber AGM on Wednesday 8th June at the Sensation Science Centre, Dundee.
Joe said: "I'm delighted to be asked to be the President of the Chamber this year. It is a real honour and privilege to carry out this important role."
Joe paid tribute to Kevin Coe, the outgoing President, for his service over the past year, and in particular his support to Mervyn and the Chamber Team. Kevin has provided stability and input at a key time for the Chamber. Joe then went on to say: "I see my job as serving, enabling and supporting the staff at the chamber, helping them serve you the members.
“If you look back, this Chamber has a fantastic heritage. We are a chamber with a royal charter and this is our one hundred and seventieth AGM. Along with this amazing heritage, I’m pleased to be taking over a strong, and as Kevin said, a ‘vibrant and relevant’ Chamber. We are not only a significant organisation in the City Region area of Dundee and Tayside, but we also have an important role to play in the nation.
“Last year has been a challenging year, but we have come through it and I’m confident we have a solid foundation to build on.
“I intend to play my part in supporting the Team, working with you, the members, to help improve your business and organisational performance.
“Thank you, and I look forward to working with you over this coming year.”
Other Board Memberships:
Apart from his role as Managing Director of LifeTree, Joe serves on a number of other Boards.
He has been a member of the Board of Management for Dundee College of Further Education for four years, and serves as the Convener of the Human Resources and Development Committee at the College.
Joe is a member of the Board for the European Consortium for Learning Organisations (ECLO). He also serves on the board of three Scottish Charities.
